‘It’s been tough’: Graham Potter admits 24-year-old is really struggling right now at Chelsea
Graham Potter has claimed that the injuries and outside noise surrounding Mason Mount have made things very difficult for him at Chelsea.
He used his pre-match press conference to praise the 24-year-old for how he is currently dealing with the situation.
Talks regarding a new contract for Mount have stalled in the past few weeks, with him no closer to accepting the latest offer from Todd Boehly.

This is despite reportedly being offered a similar deal to that of fellow academy graduate Reece James, which he accepted earlier this season.
The fact that he is still yet to extend the deal which will expire at the end of next season has given the biggest suggestion yet that he could be on the move as early as this season.
Liverpool and Manchester United have been reportedly interested in a deal to bring the England international in, whilst there is also the option of Bayern Munich and rekindling his relationship with Thomas Tuchel.
Potter praises Mount
He has recently been struggling with injuries, which have not helped his case as they have coincided with a temporary return to form for Potter’s side.
Nevertheless, the manager has praised the impact of Mount and the attitude he has shown despite being frustrated.

He said: “It’s been tough for him, he’s had niggling injuries and noise and speculation off the pitch. He’s a top professional and fantastic lad. He’s been top, that’s credit to him.”
Potter did claim during the press conference that Mount would be able to feature in tomorrow’s game against Aston Villa, although it is unlikely that he will be a starter.
This is going to provide him a fantastic opportunity to remind everyone of his qualities at a time he needs it most.
