'Says it all": Kai Havertz suggests a truly 'top level' man has left Chelsea

Kai Havertz has claimed he was stunned by how impressive Thomas Tuchel was when he joined Chelsea in 2021, and says the club have lost a top coach.

He told The Guardian that the attention to detail his countryman brought to the club when he became manager was something that completely revolutionised them.

Tuchel has been in the news recently after taking the vacant job at Bayern Munich after the shocking sacking of Julian Nagelsmann.

It was claimed that he may be interested in rekindling his good relationship with the 23-year-old in the Bundesliga, however it appears that deal won’t happen.

Tuchel’s time at Chelsea came to an unceremonious end earlier this season, with owner Todd Boehly likely citing issues off the pitch as the reasoning.

Havertz praises Tuchel

Despite being sacked, his time at the club was extremely successful. It seems he had an effect on Havertz more than most, with the forward full of praise for his impact when he was in West London.

He said: “Then [Thomas] Tuchel gave me a different idea of football. Every detail counts, every centimetre, how you touch the ball, how you control, where you pass, which foot, movement, creating spaces: he’s just top level. To come and win the Champions League in six months says it all.”

Chelsea’s current manager, Graham Potter, will be hoping that Havertz can continue his good form in front of goal. He scored in three consecutive games before the club season was put on pause due to the international break.

Supporters will be hoping a difficult time with the Germany team will not impact him too much. He missed a penalty on the international stage before leaving the camp early due to illness.

Tuchel meanwhile will be looking to get things underway at Bayern, with a potential Champions League semi-final with Chelsea on the horizon.
