'Someone like Chelsea': Daniel Levy now makes claim about Todd Boehly's spending at Stamford Bridge
Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has claimed that Todd Boehly’s lavish spending at Chelsea will be an issue when the new rules come in this summer.
He said in an interview with Cambridge Union that new rules are going to mean that teams are limited in the amount that can be spent on wages and transfer fees.
Boehly has not been shy to spend money in his first year since taking over the club. He has financed two successive big transfer windows.

It has not led to results in the league, with the Blues sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League with just a handful of games left this season.
Worries have been compounded with recent reports that a number of players are set to be sold in an attempt to balance the books this summer.
Boehly’s spending could be an issue
Levy has weighed in on this, claiming that the new rules could leave Chelsea in a little bit of bother when it comes to finances.
He said: “First thing is that there are new rules coming into effect this season, UEFA rules, where sustainability is going to be much more in people’s mind. You will be limited in the amount you can spend on wages, and transfer fees, effectively the amortisation element as a percentage of your turnover.

“It starts at 90% and over three years it’s going down to 70%. The impact of that is effectively some sort of wage control.
“That impact of that means that you talk about clubs who have been spending very heavily, and you talk about someone like Chelsea, now the new rules come into effect this summer, I think you’ll find that regardless of who is the owner it’s going to have some impact on the finances of football.”
With two consecutive big windows, the aim already was for Chelsea to only need to make essential additions going forwards from now.
