'Final stages': Sky journalist claims Chelsea are about to announce new signing very soon
Sky journalist Dharmesh Sheth has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea are about to make an announcement regarding the signing of Kendry Paez.
It has been previously claimed that the Blues have thrown everything at the youngster in an attempt to sign him ahead of a host of elite clubs.
The 15-year-old has already made his first team debut, and is impressing greatly already in his bid to become the next big star.
Signing young players has become a huge part of Todd Boehly’s identity since taking over at Stamford Bridge, with a number of promising stars already joining the club.
Carney Chukwuemeka joined with a real fanfare back last summer, however minutes have been hard to come by in West London since making the move from Aston Villa.
They added to this with the January capture of Andrey Santos, which had some figures at the club more excited than the signing of Enzo Fernandez for a club-record fee in the same month.
Kendry Paez close to being announced
Now, they look set to add another young star to their ranks in the form of Paez, It has been widely claimed that he will not be available to play for the Blues until 2025, when he turns 18.
However, Sheth has reported that he has heard a deal is to expected to be completed very soon, and announced in turn.
He said: “Deal in final stages. Told formal announcement expected soon.”
Investment in the future is almost certainly going to be matched this summer by investment for the present, with a new manager at the helm who will need backing.
It is currently expected that Mauricio Pochettino will be the candidate handed the job, with negotiations reportedly in an advanced stage between the two parties.
