'I suspect': Gary Neville has theory over why it's taken Chelsea so long to appoint Mauricio Pochettino
Pundit Gary Neville has claimed that he believes he knows why it has taken Chelsea so long to appoint Mauricio Pochettino.
He claimed on his Sky Sports podcast that the former Tottenham manager will have been wanting to ensure the board at Stamford Bridge were willing to buy in to his ideas and back his methods.
It has felt like forever since Pochettino emerged as the only real candidate to become the next permanent boss in West London.

As the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique fell out of the running, it became clear that the 51-year-old was the clear favourite for the job.
He was reportedly considered for the job earlier this season, before Todd Boehly made the decision to hire Graham Potter instead.
Now though, he looks set to be on his way after a lengthy negotiation process.
Neville has Pochettino theory
Neville believes the Argentine will have been seeking assurances that he will be able to utilise the players that he wants.
He said: “I think that Pochettino has been going to Chelsea for three or four weeks and they have been in negotiations for what’s felt like three or four weeks.
“I don’t think that will have been about his package or his backroom team, I think that will have been about… are you going to buy into what I want to do with this squad?

“Because he will have looked at them meticulously, Pochettino, and his recruitment people around him and his staff and he will have said ‘right, these are the players I want on the bus and these are the players I don’t want on the bus’. And you better back me.
“I suspect that is where the negotiations have been centred in the last couple of weeks.”
While individuals weren’t named by Neville, reports have frequently stated that Pochettino is a big fan of Mason Mount, whose contract status is up in the air right now.
