‘Nothing would surprise me’: Chris Sutton predicts winner of Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest
Chris Sutton has claimed that he believes Chelsea will pick up their second consecutive win tomorrow when they face Nottingham Forest.
He told BBC Sport however that he is not convinced by the Blues after they returned to winning ways against Bournemouth last week.
It was certainly not plain sailing for the Blues on the South Coast last week, as they were held at 1-1 as the game approached full-time.
However, late goals from Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix helped give Frank Lampard his first win since taking over the club on a temporary basis.
The remaining Premier League games certainly do not hold the importance that they did at the start of the year, with them not set to impact this dire campaign.
Sutton predicts Chelsea win
Instead, the players will be playing for their place next season under the new manager, likely to be Mauricio Pochettino.
Sutton has predicted the Blues to have just enough to get over the line when they welcome Forest to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
He said: “I don’t seem to be able to call Chelsea right whatever I try, so this time I am basing my prediction purely on Nottingham Forest’s abysmal away record. Forest have just one win and six points from 17 games on the road, where they are conceding an average 2.4 goals a game.
“Surely they won’t get anything at Stamford Bridge – although this is Chelsea we are talking about. Blues interim manager Frank Lampard got his first win last week, although I am not sure they deserved to beat Bournemouth. Now Frank needs a home win, and despite my better judgement I am going with them to get it. Stand by for a Forest victory then… nothing would surprise me here. 2-1.”
With tough games to come for the rest of the season, this could be the last chance for a comfortable win this season.
