‘Tells you a lot’: David Seamen explains what he noticed about Chelsea goal celebrations vs Forest

David Seaman has claimed that noticed that Chelsea players looked relieved when they were celebrating goals on Saturday against Nottingham Forest.

The former goalkeeper said on his own podcast that the lack of celebrations after either of their goals was a microcosm of the feeling in the dressing room right now.

It was a return to the scoresheet for Raheem Sterling at the weekend, whose brace included a sensational strike that reminded everyone just why the club wanted him so much.

However, it wasn’t enough for the Blues to make it back-to-back wins under Frank Lampard, as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

It has been a dire 2023 for the club, as they prepare to bring this season to an end in the bottom half of the table.

Seaman observation about Chelsea celebrations

Seaman has claimed that this frustration has become clear on the players when they have been celebrating goals.

He said: “The celebration was how Chelsea are playing. It wasn’t a full on celebration. It was like ‘yeah I have scored’. It was almost like a relief but I was almost like that’s it.

“Normally when they score Chelsea they are all up and all over each other and I just thought in that moment there it tells you a lot about what you need to know about Chelsea.

“The feeling that must be in the dressing room, if it’s like that on the pitch in front of the fans it’s not brilliant.”

The remaining trio of games left for the club sees them face three of the current top four, leaving very little optimism among supporters that there will be anything else to cheer about this season.
