Chelsea's official account now reacts after what Reece James sent to Arsenal fan on Twitter
Reece James received a lot of love from the Chelsea fanbase on Thursday night after publicly claiming he would never join Arsenal.
When an Arsenal fan on social media proposed the idea of his club signing Reece James, the Chelsea defender responded on Twitter in emphatic fashion. He simply rejected any chance of it happening by replying, “I say no”.
This comes during a summer transfer window where the Blues have already sold first-team players to Premier League rivals, including Kai Havertz’s sale to Arsenal. Manchester City have managed to snap up Mateo Kovacic from the Stamford Bridge clear-out, too.
However, Chelsea fans can rest a little easier knowing James, 23, won’t be going anywhere.
We loved hearing James speak out yesterday and pledging his loyalty to Chelsea at a time when there’s so many changes at the club.
In our view, the right-back is going to be integral to the plans moving forward under Mauricio Pochettino. We’ve suggested him as one of three potential candidates to become the next club captain, too.
Chelsea’s official Twitter account reacted to last night’s James story with a heartfelt message.
They posted: “One of our own.”
Let’s hope James is one Chelsea academy graduate that is here for the long haul.
It does always seem to sting a bit more when you sell a player to your closest rivals, which is why some of the more recent deals will be painful for supporters.
Michael Owen has suggested on Twitter this week that Chelsea could be making an error this summer by selling stars to Premier League neighbours.

Many have used Mount as the Chelsea poster boy in recent years, but it turns out it’s been James all this time.
