Enzo Fernandez has just helped Lionel Messi break another record yesterday

Last night saw Argentina legend Lionel Messi score his fastest ever career goal in their 2-0 win over Australia.

The new Inter Miami man’s strike after just 79 seconds sent the World champions on their way, with his goal assisted by Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues’ record signing joined the club off the back of a sensational set of displays for the national team that did a lot to help his country win the World Cup in a pulsating final with France.

After arguing with Kylian Mbappe in the final, the 22-year-old was handed the young player of the tournament award, ahead of breakout stars such as Josko Gvardiol.

The Argentine captain has been very impressed by Fernandez since he came in to the national team setup, with him helping him finally achieve the final piece of his career puzzle in Qatar.

He has continued his good form at Stamford Bridge too, even if the side were enduring their worst Premier League campaign in more than 20 years.

While many in West London have been extremely impressed with his performances, it has been acknowledged that they need to bring in a profile who will partner him effectively.

It seemed as if new manager Mauricio Pochettino was pushing for that figure to be Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon, however their efforts were blown out the water by PSG.

Now, it looks as if they have focused their efforts on bringing in Moises Caicedo from Brighton, who they already tried to sign back in January.

While the Ecuador international signed a new deal back then, it seems like it was with the acknowledgement that he would be allowed to move on this summer, and it looks as if the Blues are at the front of the queue for his signature.
