'I'm having him': Ally McCoist thinks Chelsea could reportedly be set to sell a seriously good player

Pundit Ally McCoist has claimed that Chelsea will be letting a great player go if they sell Kai Havertz this summer.

He told TalkSPORT that it does not surprise him that teams the calibre of Arsenal and Real Madrid are interested in signing him this summer.

The Gunners have emerged as the top candidates to sign Havertz before next season begins, having reportedly sent a proposal yesterday.

This comes after Carlo Ancelotti led interest from Madrid in a potential deal, before they were seemingly priced out of things.

However, the Blues could still secure the sale they are seemingly open for, even if it goes against the wishes of new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

McCoist praises Havertz

McCoist has now claimed that playing Havertz in his right position will bring the best out of the player, and whoever signs him will reap those rewards.

He said: “I’m telling you know he’s playing out of position. I’m having him. Without doubt, never a centre forward. I specifically watched him in a couple games I went to, and he just kept coming to the ball. But I think he’s a top player as a number 10 or a midfielder.

“It does not surprise me that the clubs you mentioned are interested in him. He takes the ball on the half-turn, there’s goals in him but not enough to make him a centre-forward. I like him.”

While the position may open up for Chelsea to utilise next season behind the striker, it looks as if the plan is to utilise upcoming new signing Christopher Nkunku there.

This is reportedly behind the decision made by the new manager to not try and push to bring Joao Felix in permanently for next season.
