Report: Chelsea will have to pay same price as Declan Rice for 21-year-old club think he's worth as much
Reports have claimed that Brighton are expecting a large fee from Chelsea for the signing of Moises Caicedo this summer.
According to TalkSPORT, the Seagulls believe their player is worth the same as West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, and want the Blues to pay accordingly.
It seems as if Chelsea’s focus has honed in on Caicedo as their first midfield addition of the summer.
The position certainly looks as if it is one that is going to need addressing throughout this window, with the current crop set for what looks like a mass exodus.
N’golo Kante is set to soon be announced as the next big name to take their talents over to Saudi Arabia, while Mateo Kovacic is trying to push through a move to Manchester City.
The Blues have already seen any attempts to bring in Manuel Ugarte fall short, with PSG blowing them out the water with their offer of personal terms.
Therefore, it seems the Ecuador international is the most likely candidate for the club to move for. Reports today have claimed that he has already turned down a move to Bayern Munich in favour of playing for Chelsea.
However, notoriously stubborn Brighton are not going to make things easy for the Blues as far as negotiations go. They could be about to set their stall at what would be a club-record fee.
Rice is currently seemingly set for a move across London to Arsenal, with the Gunners already having an opening bid rejected.
With the Hammers reportedly looking for a fee in excess of £100m, a similar one for Caicedo would see the Blues forced to smash their record again just months after they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.
