Report: What is set to happen to Mason Mount if he doesn't move to Manchester United this summer

Reports have claimed that Mason Mount could now be set to leave Chelsea at the end of next season.

According to the Evening Standard, the 24-year-old is likely to leave for free if he isn’t granted his transfer away from the club this summer.

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that Manchester United are pushing hard to bring Mount in before next season gets underway.

Personal terms are completely sorted between the two parties, however the difference in fees currently being the two clubs required is proving a stumbling block.

The Blues rejected a bid of around £40m for the player earlier this week, with them needing plenty more than that to part ways with their two-time player of the season.

Mount could leave for free

It has already been claimed that new manager Mauricio Pochettino is a massive fan of the player, and would like to keep him at Stamford Bridge if the opportunity arises.

It is not looking likely however, and reports today have claimed that even if he stays for this season he will not be interested in signing a new deal that keeps him in West London.

Losing Mount would no doubt be a big blow to the club, even if he had his weakest season as a professional in England last year.

His quality is obviously still there somewhere, and many supporters will have been hoping for the player to have a season under the new manager in order to try and see him find that form again at Stamford Bridge.

Instead, it looks as if the Argentine will have Christopher Nkunku to rely on in the position behind the striker, with him even recommending not to resign Joao Felix due to his confidence in the France international.
