96.3% pass accuracy, 2 tackles: 20-year-old Chelsea gem could prove to be ‘solid’ investment
Chelsea fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Blues’ Premier League trip across London on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s charges were undone by mistakes at the back and couldn’t find a way back past a tightly-knit Hammers defence.
However, the Chelsea manager did have a number of positives to take from the encounter in East London.

One of those was the performance of Malo Gusto, who made his full debut for the Blues on Sunday.
The 20-year-old joined Chelsea from Lyon in January but saw the season out with the Ligue 1 side.
Gusto came on for Reece James late on against Liverpool before being named in the starting XI against West Ham.
All in all, the Frenchman delivered a very promising performance that bodes well for the future.
‘Defended stoically’
Goal.com and football.london both praised Gusto’s display, the former giving him 7/10 and the latter opting for 6/10.
“A promising full debut,” wrote Goal.com.
“He used the ball neatly for the most part and positioned himself intelligently when Chelsea had the ball. Defended stoically.”
Football.london, meanwhile, wrote: “Looked solid. I’d like to see him offer more going forward but it was clear that he was instructed to sit back a bit.”
Gusto’s stats from the game – as per Whoscored.com – were decent too.
His passing accuracy was an impressive 96.3 per cent, and he weighed in with two tackles, two clearances, one interception and one block.

It was a really good shout for Chelsea to sign Gusto in January. He’s composed on the ball and good on the tackle.
Gusto’s quality and promising early displays mean that Chelsea can afford to be more cautious with James in terms of easing him back from injury.
For just £30.7million (as per TNT Sport), he could prove to be a really solid investment for Chelsea.
