Chelsea must go for £85m Real Madrid star now, if they miss out on Moises Caicedo - opinion
Last night saw a sensational twist that has the potential to affect Chelsea’s entire summer transfer window strategy.
It was widely reported overnight that Liverpool have had a British transfer record bid accepted by Brighton for Moises Caicedo.
The Ecuador international has clearly been Chelsea’s number one transfer target for the majority of the window, although they have always been hesitant for a bid to break the £100m mark.

After smashing their own record for Enzo Fernandez back in January, it was always going to be a massive commitment for them to pay that money for a player in a similar position.
A midfielder is certainly needed at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming season, and reports have linked them with a deal for Southampton man Romeo Lavia.
Chelsea should move for Tchouameni
The teenager was very impressive last season, and the Blues have already had one bid rejected for him.
However, it is unclear if he is quite at the level yet to play for a side like Chelsea on a weekly basis, and perhaps the Blues would be better off looking elsewhere.

There have been loose links over the last few transfer windows to a deal to Aurelien Tchouameni, whose place in the Real Madrid team has never been secure since his £85m move.
The La Liga side have also already strengthened this summer in that position, as they added the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
While a transfer at this stage of the window does seem unlikely for the France international, he is one of the only players who has the quality the club are looking for if they do miss out on Caicedo.
