Shaun Wright-Phillips claims Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling was “on fire” in yesterday’s win against Luton Town.
Raheem Sterling, 28, was the man of the moment during Chelsea’s 3-0 home win over Luton on Friday night.
The Blues picked up their first Premier League win of the season in comfortable style, with one man standing out above the rest of the teammates.
Sterling scored a goal in each half to guide Mauricio Pochettino’s side to three points. He assisted a third goal from Nicolas Jackson, too.
Sterling uploaded a message on Instagram after last night’s imperious performance.
He received some positive responses in the comments, including from former Blues star Shaun Wright-Phillips, who was so impressed by the performance he had just seen.
“Man was on fire again today,” Wright-Phillips responded in the comment section.
Despite a challenging first season at Chelsea last year, Sterling has plenty of time to prove why he was in fact a £50million (Daily Mail) bargain signing.
The pacey attacker looks reenergised at the start of the new campaign and can provide a genuine goalscoring threat to the Blues line-up.
His Friday night display has been earning him plaudits from all over. For example, Owen Hargreaves claimed Sterling looked “explosive” for Chelsea against Luton, as quoted by the Premier League’s official website.
