Report: Chelsea now think Manchester City are going to beat them to ‘very good’ signing

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have shown an interest in signing Boca Juniors defender Valentine Barco.

According to Transfer Confidential though, there is a belief that they could be pipped to the signing by fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

Barco has been on the shortlist for a number of top sides, particularly after his impressive displays in the Copa Libertardores.

He has previously been described as ‘very good’ by Argentinian legend Juan Ramon Riquelmes.

The likes of Brighton and Hove Albion have considered the signing, with them fresh in the knowledge that they will not be able to have Levi Colwill as part of their side again.

However, they are now at risk of being pipped by some of the traditional big boys. Chelsea are one of those who have been credited with an interest.

Chelsea fear City will sign Barco

The Blues have just announced that Lewis Hall has left the club, with his loan to Newcastle United containing an obligation for them to make it permanent next summer.

There is also plenty of talk that Marc Cucurella could be on the move still this week, with him being courted for a loan move.

Manchester United are keen for a player in that role after Luke Shaw was revealed to be out for a prolonged period of time due to injury.

This allowance for him to leave is reportedly off the back of the confidence they have in Ian Maatsen being part of the first team squad.

Mauricio Pochettino has been reportedly very impressed by the Dutchman in training, and therefore is happier to have him as part of his first team squad than the established Spaniard.
