'The most advanced': Chelsea leading the race for 'really quick' 20-year-old attacker - journalist
Chelsea are currently leading the race for Montpellier forward Elye Wahi.
That is according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who claims that the Blues are “the most advanced club” in the pursuit for Elye Wahi‘s signature.
He has stated that Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham United, Eintracht Frankfurt and Fulham are all also interested in the 20-year-old.
However, it is Chelsea, despite supposedly having a £26m offer for Wahi turned down, who appear to be at the front of the queue for his services.
The Blues brought in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal earlier in the summer to strengthen their attack for the season, but it looks like they are also thinking about their forward line in the future by targeting Wahi.

Chelsea are likely to loan Elye Wahi out
Wahi is a very talented player who may be able to make an impact at Chelsea now.
Former France international Bixente Lizarazu has described him as a footballer who is “really quick” and “very good in front of goal”.
However, if Chelsea do go on to sign him, it seems the plan is to loan him out. Last month, the Evening Standard reported that the Blues wanted to buy Wahi before sending the player to partner club Strasbourg for a season.

Should Chelsea be able to land the French youngster this summer, though, there may actually be some logic in keeping him at Stamford Bridge for the campaign.
They are light up front right now. With Christopher Nkunku set for a spell on the sidelines, there is no one to really cover Jackson, other than Armando Broja, who is coming back from a serious injury.
Chelsea still, of course, have the chance to go out and buy another first-team striker. But perhaps Wahi could be an option for Mauricio Pochettino both now and in the future.
