'I know this': Chelsea have offered £32m player a contract but he's not happy with it - journalist
Chelsea have offered Ian Maatsen a new contract after the defender’s decision to stay at Stamford Bridge.
However, Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella has told the London Is Blue Podcast that Ian Maatsen has rejected it because of the terms on offer.
On the left-back, Kinsella said: “I know this for sure that they’ve offered a contract to Ian Maatsen. He’s not signed it. I think the reason he’s not signed was because the terms didn’t make him seem like a particularly important player.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, at the end of the summer transfer window, Burnley agreed a deal with Chelsea worth around £32m to sign Maatsen, who spent last season on loan at Turf Moor.
The 21-year-old, though, wanted to remain in west London and fight for his place.
Ian Maatsen may have to leave Chelsea eventually
Chelsea currently have Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella for the left-back position and Maatsen is yet to start a Premier League game this season.
Ultimately, at some stage, the Blues will probably have to offload one of the three. And having struggled to get rid of Cucurella during the last transfer window, it looks like it could be Maatsen.

According to The Athletic, while Manchester United did make a loan bid for the Spaniard, Chelsea were still unable to shift him in the end. If it is a similar theme when the market reopens, then that could easily push Maatsen closer to the exit door.
The fact that Maatsen’s contract expires next year also makes a departure seem very possible. If he does not sign a new one before then, Chelsea may try and cash in in January, which could be their last chance to sell the Dutch youngster and avoid losing him on a free transfer.
