Report: Football insiders were shocked Chelsea signed 22-year-old this summer
Reports have claimed that those in football were left shocked that Chelsea completed the signing of Nicolas Jackson this summer.
According to The Athletic, many believed that the player would be taking an interim step for his next move before switching to one of the top teams in world football.
Jackson has had a mixed start to life at Stamford Bridge, which has kind of been the story of Chelsea’s season so far.

He has opened his account against Luton, and has provided a real energy and strength to the Blues’ attack.
However, it has to be said that he has been responsible for a handful of big misses at this early stage of his career.
This notably happened at the weekend when the Blues were beaten at home by Nottingham Forest.
People in football shocked at Jackson to Chelsea
With minutes to go, Jackson was found by Raheem Sterling just yards out, but he could only balloon an effort over the bar to suck the life out of the home crowd.
While the positives are very clear to see in terms of how he carries the ball and drives the attack forward, he has shown obvious limitations.

This perhaps leans in to why some in the game have thoughts that the 22-year-old was more destined for a step in between a move to a top side.
It has already been claimed that Chelsea were considering a deadline day bid for another striker. However, they ended up with the signing of Cole Palmer as they also searched for a versatile attacker.
However, they may return in January for a bid for Ivan Toney when he is available for selection again after his ban.
