20-year-old Chelsea youngster now backed to be the next prospect to be promoted to the first team - journalist
Journalist Liam Twomey has backed Chelsea youngster Bashir Humphreys to be the next prospect to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.
He told The Athletic that there is a hope that a strong loan spell this season could see him ready to feature in the Premier League as soon as next season.
Humphreys featured fairly regularly during the pre-season tour of the United States, where Chelsea went unbeaten during their time there.

This will no doubt have left an impression on Mauricio Pochettino as he assessed his options going into his first season in charge of the club.
He was loaned out to the Championship though, where he has become a regular for Swansea City this season.
The youngster has received plenty of praise from those watching his games, and this has coincided with some big moments personally for him.
Humphreys tipped to break through
He was given the opportunity to train with the England senior squad recently, where he will have worked alongside the likes of Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher.
While he has impressed so far on loan, there is apparently plenty of hope at the club that he can be the next star to break through from the academy

Twomey said: “Looking at the on-loan list, the most viable candidate is Bashir Humphreys. He impressed on this summer’s United States tour, is establishing himself with England Under-21s and has made a positive start to his spell with Swansea City.
“There is hope that with a strong year in the Championship under his belt, the 20-year-old could be ready for Premier League football as soon as next season.”
With there being reports that Thiago Silva will be on the move at the end of the season, it could be the perfect time for them to bring through another young talent at the back to compete for minutes.
