'How good he is on the ball': BBC pundit totally blown away by the quality of 21-year-old Chelsea player

Michael Brown has described Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as a “top player” with so much individual quality.

The BBC pundit is convinced he’s going to keep getting better, too.

Cole Palmer, who’s aged just 21, is making a very positive early impression in Chelsea colours after joining from Manchester City in the summer.

The left-footed playmaker has three direct goal contributions in his opening six Blues appearances, which immediately makes him one of the most threatening attackers at Stamford Bridge.

Michael Brown has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea’s £40million signing (Sky Sports).

“I’ve known about Cole Palmer and watched his career from the start at Manchester City and he just needs to play,” Brown told BBC Sport.

“You know the talent was all there, loads of clubs were showing interest in him straight away and coming through he was patient and waited for opportunities in certain areas of the pitch.

“I think when he goes to Chelsea he’s not the young boy anymore, he’s a player that’s coming to the football club, that’s going to be treated slightly differently and I think he’s finding his feet now – he’s a top player.

“He’s just going to get better and better, but I think he needs the team to do well as well and then you’ll really see the best of him. He’s not lacking in any confidence, he knows his ability, he knows how good he is on the ball, he knows what he can do and the only reason City sold him is because of circumstance.”

BBC pundit Pat Nevin recently hinted that Man City may have made a mistake selling Palmer to Chelsea in the summer, as quoted by BBC Sport. It feels to us like the Blues definitely got the better end of the deal.

Palmer, who’s so effective on his left foot, is bringing a touch of class to Chelsea in the final third.

He’s got the kind of composure and creativity in attack to reenergise a toothless forward line.

We expect Palmer to continue after the international break impressing in Chelsea’s XI as a right-winger who’s got all the freedom he wants to drift into central pockets to influence a game.
