‘One of the greatest’: Malo Gusto now thinks his Chelsea teammate is one of the best in the world

Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has now claimed that teammate Thiago Silva is one of the best players in his position in the World.

He told RMC Sport that watching him play at the back is a great inspiration for him as he gets life at Stamford Bridge underway.

Gusto has recently been promoted to the France senior squad from the U21s following some injuries to first team players.

One player who pulled out of the side was Axel Disasi, as he monitors a problem picked up in the win over Burnley.

The right-back has not featured in recent weeks following his red card against Aston Villa, leaving his manager high and dry when it comes to recognised players in that position.

Gusto praises Silva

While he has been missing though, Silva has remained an ever-present in the starting side despite his age.

He has received plenty of praise from Gusto, who loves how he gives everything he has in every appearance so far.

He said: “He’s one of the greatest defenders in the world. He’s always on top, focused on what he’s doing. Seeing that he’s always giving it his all is something that’s beautiful and inspires me a lot.”

Many supporters have been calling for Silva to be dropped actually, with Mauricio Pochettino being forced to shoehorn Levi Colwill in at a left-back position.

With Benoit Badiashile on his way back from injury too, the younger options will be pushing for regular starting roles up against the veteran Brazilian.

However, his influence in the dressing room will be key for as long as he is here, with him clearly having an impact on some of the young stars.
