'Completely different': Glen Johnson says 'everyone' hasn't noticed one reason why Chelsea are struggling

Glen Johnson has claimed that there is something wrong with Chelsea that a lot of people aren’t noticing right now.

He told GGRecon that the high turnover of staff both on and off the pitch have made it very difficult for them to get any consistency.

Despite some positive news regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s time in charge of the club, the league position does not reflect that up to now.

With the Argentine’s hiring, a whole new set of staff made their way to Stamford Bridge too to implement their own methods onto the side.

As well as off the pitch, a whole host of new signings are also trying to make their mark.

Johnson has now claimed that this turnover is making it impossible for anything to come together as far as results are concerned.

Johnson on issue at Chelsea

He said: “It’s not just the amount of new players they’ve brought into the club during the summer, but they’ve also lost half of their backroom staff. Everybody doesn’t notice things like this on the weekend when the team is playing.

“They’ve changed more than half of their squad, half their backroom staff, they’ve brought in a new manager and the owners are still relatively new to the Premier League, so it’s as if Chelsea are a completely different football club now to what they were a few years ago.

“It’s going to take time for Chelsea to be successful again and I’m sure that some of the young players they’ve brought in are going to be big stars for the club going forward.

“This team just needs to get through this season, finish as high in the table as they can and have a pre-season with the same group of lads who’re at the club now, and after a year’s worth of experience together, they can continue to build next season.”

After the embarrassing defeat against Newcastle at the weekend, there is certainly work that needs to be done on the training ground before the Premier League returns to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
