Conor Gallagher posts Instagram message after his red card in Chelsea's 3-2 win over Brighton

Chelsea star Conor Gallagher has apologised after his red card in the weekend’s match at home to Brighton.

Conor Gallagher received the second sending off of his professional career during Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brighton, picking up two yellow cards inside the first-half.

However, his Chelsea teammates showed incredible resilience to grind out a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old’s dismissal now means he’ll miss the midweek league trip to Manchester United through suspension.

As a result of today’s success, Chelsea sit 10th in the division table and optimistic fans will keep looking upwards.

Conor Gallagher apology for red card

Gallagher has uploaded a message on social media this evening after Chelsea’s victory over Brighton.

The Blues midfielder, who was the stand-in captain this weekend, has paid tribute to his teammates. He’s held his hands up with an apology, too.

“So proud of the boys today, brilliant win! Apologies for the red card and putting the boys in that position. Support was class as always,” Gallagher wrote on Instagram.

Chelsea discipline

There’s certainly a worrying trend emerging when you look at the amount of bookings Chelsea are collecting this term under Mauricio Pochettino. It needs to fall on the head coach to come down hard on this ill-discipline!

Speaking via Sky Sports’ News channel (2:49pm, 3 December), Jody Morris described Gallagher as “silly” and “poor” for his red card versus Brighton.

Reece James, the Chelsea club captain, was sent off against Newcastle last weekend.

The Blues have now as a collective picked up 47 yellow cards in their 14 league matches so far. It’s now three red cards, too.
