‘Didn’t see that coming’: 31-year-old admits he didn’t expect to be sold by Chelsea this year
One player who was sold by Chelsea earlier this year has now admitted that the decision came as a real shock to him.
Jorginho told the Mail Online that his sale to Arsenal came extremely quickly, however he was instantly convinced about joining the London rivals.
The Italian has gone pretty quickly from one of the first names on the teamsheet to a player who provides experience mostly from the bench.

Chelsea have overseen mass change in the middle of the park over the last 12 months or so, and this has stemmed from them spending huge money on a number of stars.
After breaking their transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in consecutive windows, they also spent a big fee to bring in Romeo Lavia amid interest from Liverpool.
Jorginho has not been the only top player to be sold this year. Both Mateo Kovacic and N’golo Kante have also moved on to new challenges.
Jorginho surprised he was sold
The 31-year-old has now admitted the decision to sell him did catch him off guard a little bit.
He said: “I didn’t see that coming, I think it happened in less than 48 hours. I saw the opportunity of working in a team that had an amazing project, of growing a team, to try and achieve and feeling that they wanted me to give this help to improve the team.
“I am glad they knew I would always put the team first. The project convinced me straight away to come. I did not have to think too much.”
Despite mostly sitting on the bench behind the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, it can’t be doubted that things are a lot better at the Emirates than Stamford Bridge right now.
Chelsea fans will be hoping to see things begin to click in their midfield soon, with Mauricio Pochettino still experimenting how to get the best out of his players.
