'Mad': Micah Richards claims he found something crazy about Chelsea's performance vs Everton

Micah Richards thinks it is mad that Chelsea had over 70% possession against Everton over the weekend but barely created anything.

The former Manchester City defender also thought that Armando Broja did not do too badly in Chelsea‘s 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

Micah Richards was speaking about Chelsea and Broja on The Rest Is Football podcast.

According to BBC Sport, the Blues’ ball possession was more than 70%, but Broja and his team-mates were unable to make anything out of it.

Broja started the game but was eventually taken off; however, Richards thought he did OK and has highlighted the effort he put in.

In total, the Albania international has made nine appearances for Chelsea this season and scored one goal.

He has recently been linked with a move to Turkey, alongside team-mate Malang Sarr.

Micah Richards discusses Chelsea and Armando Broja’s performance against Everton

While Broja could not help Chelsea take anything back to Stamford Bridge, Richards does not think he put in the worst performance at Goodison Park and liked that he tried to give the Everton defenders a tough game. However, he was shocked that the 22-year-old and his team-mates could not create anything.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, he said: “Do you know what the mad thing is about Chelsea? They had 71% possession yesterday [Sunday] and they are still not creating enough clear cut chances.

“They are creating half chances and Broja played okay, he tried to run in behind, tried to ruffle the feathers a little bit but they need a striker.”

Did Armando Broja waste his opportunity against Everton?

It definitely was not a terrible performance, but it is clear that Nicolas Jackson is Mauricio Pochettino‘s first-choice striker at the moment.

It means that Broja needs to make a real impact whenever given an opportunity if he wants to leapfrog his team-mate in the pecking order, and that did not really happen at Goodison Park on Sunday.

It will now be interesting to see who starts up front against Sheffield United this weekend.
