'Always watching him': Red-hot £75m striker says he's a huge fan of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba
RB Leipzig’s upcoming star Lois Openda has shared that he’s a huge fan of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
Blues icon Didier Drogba, who retired in 2018, has certainly left his mark on the next generation of strikers.
The 45-year-old centre-forward is renowned worldwide for his impact in a Chelsea shirt, scoring 164 goals in 381 appearances for the club.
His overall presence as a focal point at the top end of the pitch can certainly help today’s young attackers.

Lois Openda, aged 23, is now starting to make a name for himself as an exciting striker in European football.
The Belgian frontman has been in red-hot form so far this season for German side Leipzig, scoring 15 goals in 26 games across all competitions. This comes fresh off 21 goals last season in France with Lens.
It’s interesting to hear him mention Chelsea great Drogba as one of his inspirations growing up.
“I loved how he (Drogba) scored goals, made assists and protected the ball at Chelsea. I was always, always watching him,” Openda told The Athletic.
There’s been no reputable transfer rumours yet linking Chelsea to Leipzig’s new talisman, but we do wonder if the Blues should look at him as a potential solution to their No 9 problem.
The Mirror claimed last month that Manchester United are eyeing in-form star Openda as a potential target. Apparently, his form in the Bundesliga means his valuation has shot up to £75 million in the last few months.
We’d like to see Chelsea scouts at least turn their attention towards Openda, whose performances look tailor-made for England with real pace and physicality in the final third.
We’ll add it’s a great sign that the youngster’s already proven he can score goals in the German, French and Dutch league in his short career. Could he soon add the Premier League to his tally?
