'I told him': Mauricio Pochettino's hilarious reaction to Raheem Sterling's free-kick for Chelsea yesterday
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino shared a little joke with Raheem Sterling after his free-kick against Preston North End yesterday.
Raheem Sterling scored a brilliant free-kick in the second half of Chelsea‘s third round FA Cup tie versus Preston to put his side 3-0 up.
Enzo Fernandez then netted after Sterling’s stunner and Thiago Silva and Armando Broja’s headers to make the final score 4-0. After the game, Mauricio Pochettino was quick to speak about the Blues’ third goal in his post-match press conference, which was shared by Hayters TV.
Chelsea are having a lot of success in the domestic cups this season. They are also in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, taking on Middlesbrough in the first leg of their tie against Michael Carrick’s side on Tuesday.
Mauricio Pochettino on Raheem Sterling’s free-kick
Pochettino joked after Chelsea’s victory over Preston that David Beckham must be shaking after seeing Sterling score another free-kick.
The 29-year-old also put one away against Newcastle United back in November.
On Sterling’s goal, Pochettino said: “I told him when we finished the game, I said, ‘Oh, he’s shaking, David Beckham, because you’re going to break the record of David.’ No, look, that is the quality.”

Important goal for Raheem Sterling
Sterling probably needed that goal against Preston after a disappointing couple of weeks.
He was left on the bench for Chelsea’s win against Luton Town last weekend, was suspended for their triumph over Crystal Palace the match prior to that and arguably cost his team points in their last defeat, a 2-1 loss away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
During that game, Sterling had a glorious chance to square the ball to Cole Palmer for a tap in at 0-0 but shot straight at the goalkeeper instead. It was something he was heavily criticised for, but he now looks to have bounced back.
