'This guy is a magician': Victor Boniface raves about 20-year-old player who Chelsea reportedly want to sign
Bundesliga striker Victor Boniface has now been full of praise for one other player in his league who Chelsea reportedly have their eye on.
He told the ‘Obi One’ podcast just how good Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz is right now.
Wirtz has been strongly linked with a move away from the German side after being part of a seriously impressive outfit under Xabi Alonso this season.
They lead the Bundesliga table, despite the best efforts of Thomas Tuchel and co at Bayern Munich.
Their fellow German side are reportedly interested in a deal, and believe they are the favourites for a deal to sign the 20-year-old.
Wherever he ends up to next, the club signing him have a rave review from Boniface, who has described him as incredibly talented player.
He said: “This guy is a magician. We are not surprised by what he is doing in the game because in training it’s crazy. When he is with the ball. He is so good, he is fast, strong, skilful.
“Sometimes you see a number 10 who can use the ball without defending, but he can do it all. He can defend and attack and he’s skilful.”
Boniface is another player who Chelsea have been linked with signing too, as they hope to address the issues they are facing up top.
However, in the same podcast he made it clear that he had simply no desire to play in the Premier League, and therefore a deal would be difficult for the Blues to put together.
Mauricio Pochettino and co are now likely to look elsewhere before finalising a deal for a striker to join them, with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney seemingly still firmly top of the list.
