Mauricio Pochettino now shares the real reason Chelsea let Armando Broja join Fulham
Chelsea allowed one of their only two first-team strikers Armando Broja to join Fulham on deadline day.
It is a decision that would have baffled some Chelsea supporters, but Mauricio Pochettino has now shed some light on Armando Broja‘s exit.
The Argentine recently discussed the subject with the Evening Standard and the rest of the English media.
Broja was a bit-part player under Pochettino, making just six starts in the Premier League this season.
Mauricio Pochettino explains why Chelsea let Armando Broja leave
Pochettino has suggested that Chelsea’s decision to allow Broja to join Fulham on loan was based on a desire for the 22-year-old to get more minutes.
The Blues boss, however, still feels that he has enough options up front.
On Broja, he said: “It is a very good opportunity for him to play maybe more. It’s a good move for him and he can take the opportunity to play more.
“It is important to recover Christoph [Nkunku] and it is important for Nico Jackson to arrive. Also, sometimes we forget, but Deivid Washington is here with us. The options we have up front are enough.”

Chelsea should not have allowed Armando Broja to join Fulham
Broja has not been in the most prolific form this season, scoring just once in the Premier League. However, as mentioned earlier, he has not started too many games.
The Albania international was an extra body, one Pochettino will no longer be able to rely on.
Should anything happen to Jackson or Nkunku, then the Blues could have a bit of a problem.
Ultimately, we think that while letting Broja go is not so much of an issue in itself, failing to sign a replacement is. Pochettino, though, does not seem too fussed about it, but that could just be his public stance.
Chelsea at least look set to make a move for a world-class centre-forward in the summer, with talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claiming that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is at the top of their list.
