'Not the same player': TalkSPORT pundit suggests 22-year-old has gone backwards at Chelsea
Paul Ince wants to see one recent Chelsea signing and the rest of the team get given time.
Chelsea spent heavily in the last summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo, but have struggled in the Premier League this season.
The Blues are 11th in the table and lost the Carabao Cup final to Ince’s former club Liverpool last month. However, the Manchester United legend, who was speaking on talkSPORT, has called for Caicedo and his team-mates to be shown patience, though he has admitted that the midfielder has not been the player he was at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Caicedo has still been a key figure under Mauricio Pochettino, making 34 appearances in all competitions this term.
Caicedo started in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Brentford over the weekend despite Pochettino claiming that the 22-year-old and two of his team-mates were really tired.
Moises Caicedo not the same player
Ince does not think Caicedo is the player he was at Brighton but wants the Ecuadorian to be given time.
“It’s not about the price tag,” the former Reading manager said. “Caicedo was a top, top player at Brighton, gone to Chelsea and not the same player. He [Pochettino] has got a young team, give them time. You can’t keep sacking managers.”

Chelsea will give Moises Caicedo time
While Caicedo’s critics may not be prepared to, Chelsea will definitely afford the Ecuador international time. They have to.
Caicedo was obviously not a small investment. The Blues paid £115m (Sky Sports) to sign him, smashing their transfer record.
The former Brighton man has not even been at Stamford Bridge for a full season yet. It would be madness to give up on him so soon.
Also, if you can overlook his price tag, which most critics will naturally refuse to do, you will be able to see that he is not doing the worst job in the middle of the park. For example, according to WhoScored, Caicedo is making 2.4 tackles per game, which is the third-highest average in Chelsea’s squad.
