'Doing fantastic': Enzo Maresca says he’s been so impressed with one Chelsea youngster so far
Enzo Maresca has heaped praise on one Chelsea youngster ahead of his side’s friendly against Wrexham.
Chelsea have travelled to the United States to take on Wrexham and several other clubs as they prepare for the new season.
Their match against Phil Parkinson’s team will be Enzo Maresca‘s first in charge following his appointment as Chelsea manager last month.
The players seem to be having fun working under him so far. Tosin Adarabioyo is enjoying training with Maresca, for instance.
The Italian himself also appears to be pleased with how pre-season preparations are going.

Enzo Maresca delighted with Josh Acheampong
One player who has been included in Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of America is Josh Acheampong.
Acheampong is only 18, but the young defender has impressed Maresca at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground it seems.
Speaking in a recent press conference, where he was initially asked about the absence of Trevoh Chalobah, Maresca said: “From my point of view, it is always sad to leave players out of pre-season, the squad or the XI because they work the same.
“For Trevoh, we have Wes, Axel, Tosin there and a young profile like Josh Acheampong who is doing fantastic.”
Tyrique George also included in Chelsea squad
Acheampong is not the only youngster Maresca has taken to the States. Tyrique George has also been selected by the 44-year-old.
George, who is 18 as well, is a left winger so may not get too many minutes during Chelsea’s pre-season tour this summer.
Maresca has Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk for that position, so you would expect those two to be the starters in the Blues’ upcoming fixtures.
Nevertheless, it is still good experience for the likes of George and Acheampong to be taken on this trip, especially considering some of the teams that Chelsea are going to be playing.
The Blues will face Real Madrid and Manchester City while in America, so if George and Acheampong can get some minutes against them, they will be very happy.
If so and they do well, maybe they could be part of the first team at Stamford Bridge for the 2024/25 season. Let’s wait and see.
