Marc Cucurella shares what Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has already done for him while he's at Euro 2024

The bulk of Chelsea squad has just gone through their first week of pre-season training under new management, but certain individuals are missing out while they represent their countries at international tournaments.

New Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, 44, has been working at Cobham with most of his squad.

The first team absentees include Enzo Fernandez as he prepares for the Copa America final with Argentina.

On top of that, this Sunday’s Euro 2024 final between England and Spain includes a few Chelsea representatives. Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher are with the England group, while Marc Cucurella is with Spain.

Interestingly, during an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Cucurella admitted that he’ll be happier if Palmer is on the England bench this weekend.

Marc Cucurella shares he’s had conversation with Enzo Maresca

Chelsea left-back Cucurella, 25, has shared that his new club manager has already reached out to him via text message while he’s away representing his country

Cucurella was asked by The Athletic, does Chelsea’s future look exciting under Marezca and whether the new head coach has been in touch with him.

He responded: “Yes, he texted me a couple of days ago. The feelings were good, it all looked exciting, so I am looking forward to it.

“Some people from Chelsea reached me too during the Euros. I’ve sensed that our team-mates are very happy too.”

The Chelsea Chronicle is delighted to hear Maresca has not forgotten about those individuals yet to join his camp.

It’s a simple yet brilliant bit of man-management from him already.

Chelsea’s LB decision next season

One of the most interesting team selections for Maresca to decide at Chelsea is who plays as the main starting left-back.

Cucurella finished last season strongly in that role as an inverted full-back. He’s equally impressing on the international stage this summer with Spain, too.

However, Blues vice-captain Ben Chilwell is a left-back and will hope to play.

Also, Chelsea completed the signing of versatile player Renato Veiga this week.

Speaking via Chelsea’s official website after completing his transfer, Veiga said that he doesn’t mind playing as a left-back, centre-back or defensive midfielder.
