Report: Chelsea prepared to offer Kepa Arrizabalaga in swap deal for ‘world-class’ goalkeeper

There is one position that Chelsea have made it clear they are still keen to strengthen before the Premier League season gets underway.

A new goalkeeper is very much on the agenda at Stamford Bridge, despite there being two recognisable first team options already in the squad.

Robert Sanchez impressed new manager Enzo Maresca in the first pre-season friendly earlier this week, with him keeping a clean sheet in his time on the pitch.

This contrasts to the consensus surrounding the other goalkeeper. There are doubts over Djordje Petrovic’s ability to feature in Maresca’s system.

Because of this, links to signing a new goalkeeper have not gone away, and one name they have been linked with is Real Madrid star Andriy Lunin.

Chelsea to offer Kepa in swap for Andriy Lunin

He looks set to be back out of the team over in Spain with the return from injury of Thibaut Courtois, and AS have reported the Blues are weighing up an offer.

The report goes on to say that the Blues are considering including Kepa Arrizabalaga in any sort of deal, after he spent last season on loan there.

It has been claimed that Kepa has every intention in continuing his football at Madrid, even if that means he will not be featuring regularly and taking up an understudy role.

Lunin has regularly come in for praise since he broke through in Spain. He was described as a ‘world-class shot stopper’.

Chelsea looking at multiple goalkeepers

He seems to not be the only name on the list when it comes to potential new goalkeepers coming to Stamford Bridge.

It has been claimed Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Filip Jorgensen, although a price is yet to be agreed with Villarreal.

While it looks like they are not prepared to pay big money for a new goalkeeper, they will be hoping whoever comes in can be an upgrade on what they already have available.
