Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea decided to sign Joao Felix instead of ‘unstoppable’ attacker
It looks as if Chelsea are about to confirm yet another new signing to add to their already busy summer transfer spree.
It has been claimed that a deal has been agreed for Joao Felix to join the Blues again after his original loan spell here in 2023.
Chelsea fans were originally not convinced by Felix, and if he was the addition that they needed to make to strengthen their squad at this stage.

However, it does feel as if the deal is mostly being done to facilitate Conor Gallagher going the other direction, with Diego Simeone really keen to bring him in.
It looks as if the move to the Portuguese international came after a deal collapsed for Samu Omorodion a few days’ ago, although it is clear that the attacker is very keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea chose Joao Felix over Federico Chiesa
Another attacker who was linked with a move to West London was Federico Chiesa, who looks out of the plans at Juventus.
However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Blues were far more focused on Felix rather than bringing in the Italian this summer.
He said on Playback: “Chelsea target in the position of Chiesa is Joao Felix.”
Chiesa has previously been described as ‘unstoppable’ by former teammate Giorgio Chiellini, however it does not look as if he is going to be playing his football in Chelsea blue next season.
Competition for places in attack at Chelsea
It remains to be seen how Enzo Maresca deals with another attacker coming into his side, with him already having plenty of talent to fit into a starting XI.
Raheem Sterling couldn’t even find his way into the matchday squad for their opening day fixture against Manchester City.
His camp released a statement off the back of this happening, with Jamie Carragher one of those to criticise Sterling for his choice of actions at the time he did.
