‘We try’: Enzo Maresca shares what he wants from Cole Palmer at Chelsea this season

It is clear to see who is going to be the most important player for Chelsea in the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Cole Palmer was seen as one of the highest-performing individuals in the entire top flight last season, despite it being his first real one as a regular first team player.

Jamie Carragher has admitted that he has been made to look silly after how well he has done since moving there, and there is now a lot of expectation over how we will perform at Stamford Bridge this season.

This has been reflected by his record-breaking price rise in Fantasy Premier League, with him now amongst the most expensive players in the game.

As far as what he can bring this season, Enzo Maresca has claimed that he is looking for the England international to show an element of responsibility when it comes to linking everything together in attack this season.

He said to The Mirror: “The only thing that we try with [Cole] Palmer is also to show responsibility with the other wingers, the other attacking midfielders, and the number nine. So it’s not everything on Cole’s shoulders, absolutely, it’s not like this.”

A number of attackers have shown during pre-season that they are in good form, and ready to make an impact later today in the Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Noni Madueke hoping to start vs Manchester City

Noni Madueke was finding the net in a regular basis, and will find himself unlucky if he is not named in the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

Another player who will be hoping for a start is Christopher Nkunku, with Enzo Maresca impressed by him in pre-season.

Given the fact that there is no clarity over Nicolas Jackson’s current fitness, there is a chance the Frenchman starts the campaign up front.

If Maresca wants to start a natural striker, he could make the big call to start Marc Guiu up front for his competitive Chelsea debut.
