'Will hold talks': Enzo Maresca is about to speak to 'amazing' Chelsea player about his future - journalist

Enzo Maresca is less than two weeks away from getting his Premier League career as a manager up and running as the Chelsea boss.

The Italian will likely now have a good idea of the side he is looking to start for the first game against Manchester City after the pre-season tour of the United States has been completed.

Some players certainly got more opportunities to impress than others. Reece James and Christopher Nkunku were two players who started every single game for Maresca.

Perhaps because the future looks bleak for them at Stamford Bridge right now, some players picked up just a handful of minutes during the tour.

One of those was Armando Broja, who didn’t even register 90 minutes throughout the five fixtures despite Nicolas Jackson’s injury woes.

Armando Broja to talk to Maresca about Chelsea future

It looks as if this could well be linked to where his future lies. Maresca admitted injury wasn’t the reason Broja wasn’t picked against Real Madrid earlier this week.

Now, journalist Kieran Gill has stated that he is set for talks this week with the manager to resolve his future.

He said: “Armando Broja will hold talks with Enzo Maresca in London to figure out future. Everton and Wolves like Chelsea’s 22yo striker. Appeared for 72 minutes in total in USA over the five friendlies.”

While Broja hardly featured under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, he did describe him as a player with ‘amazing’ potential.

Samu Omorodion set to join Chelsea

The striker position at Stamford Bridge next season looks as if it is now going to have some serious competition, despite the fact Jackson will still believe he should be the number one choice.

Samu Omorodion is reportedly on his way to Chelsea after a deal was struck with Atletico Madrid, not long after it was agreed that Conor Gallagher would be heading the other way.

It remains to be seen just how much of an impact this signing allows Marc Guiu to play next season, with him impressing greatly during pre-season.
