Cole Palmer now joins Frank Lampard in Chelsea's history books for one thing

Cole Palmer booked himself a place in the history books alongside Frank Lampard as Chelsea beat Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea‘s £54 million move to bring Cole Palmer to Stamford Bridge could go down as one of their best ever, as he continues to surpass expectations.

The Englishman scored four first-half goals in what was a ruthless display from the Blues.

Palmer’s ‘insane’ performance blew away Jason Cundy, and Alan Shearer was quick to praise the Chelsea star for his ‘unbelievable’ display.

In scoring his four goals he happened to book himself a place in the Chelsea history books, as he joins Blues legend Frank Lampard for one particular record.

Cole Palmer books himself a place in the Chelsea history books

Frank Lampard was in attendance to witness Cole Palmer’s incredible performance at Stamford Bridge.

Since making his debut for Chelsea in 2023, Palmer has contributed to more goals than any other player in the Premier League. Even more than Erling Haaland.

And he’s just gone and got himself another record after the Brighton performance.

Cole Palmer has joined Frank Lampard as the only two players in Chelsea history to score four goals in two different Premier League games (Palmer – Everton, Brighton) (Lampard – Derby, Aston Villa).

To be on par with Lampard in any department is an achievement in itself.

Frank Lampard’s time at Chelsea

Frank Lampard appeared 648 times for Chelsea, scoring 211 goals and providing 148 assists in the process.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, he won 11 trophies, including three Premier League titles and a Champions League.

The Englishman achieved many things individually too.

He was the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year 2005; Premier League Player of the Year 2005; named in the FIFPro World Team of the Year 2005; UEFA’s Most Valuable Midfielder 2008; Chelsea top scorer in season 2004/05 (19 goals), 2005/06 (20 goals), 2007/08 (20 goals) and 2011/12 (16 goals); Chelsea Player of the Year 2004, 2005 and 2009.

If Palmer is even half the player Lampard was then Chelsea could have another legend on their books.
