'Exciting': Cole Palmer names the one Chelsea icon he would love to play with

Cole Palmer has established himself as Chelsea’s star man since moving to Stamford Bridge, but the hard work won’t stop there as there’s a Blues icon he’s trying to reach the level of.

Chelsea haven’t always done well on the transfer front, with Todd Boehly spending cash like it grows on trees since he took over at Stamford Bridge.

However, one signing that has worked wonders already is Cole Palmer, who joined for £42.5 million back in the summer of last year.

The Englishman has scored 27 goals and assisted 19 in just 52 games for the Blues, with two goals and four assists coming so far in the current campaign.

Danny Murphy recently praised Cole Palmer for how ‘super-intelligent’ he is after his recent performance.

Palmer isn’t low on confidence when it comes to believing in his own ability, but it seems as if he’s rather fond of the talents of a former Chelsea player.

Enzo Maresca has found Palmer a home in the number 10 role, which has seen his numbers explode at the start of this season with six-goal contributions in four games in that position.

Despite starting in the number 10 position, one thing that has really helped Chelsea and Palmer personally is his ability to drop deep and create things.

Interestingly, Palmer was recently asked which Chelsea icon he would love to play with at Stamford Bridge, and his answer won’t shock many of you.

When speaking on the Premier League YouTube channel, Palmer immediately named Eden Hazard.

The presenter asked Palmer.

“If you could play with one Chelsea icon, who would it be?”

Chelsea’s star man replied.

“Hazard.”

She then asked.

“Do you base your game off him?”

Palmer replied.

“Nah, I think we’re different, but yeah, I try and be exciting like Hazard.”

Eden Hazard’s stats for Chelsea

Eden Hazard will easily go down as one of the most exciting and skillful players to have ever donned the famous blue shirt.

The Belgian scored 110 goals and provided 85 in 352 appearances for Chelsea.

He scooped up a number of trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, which includes two Premier League titles, a League Cup, an FA Cup and two Europa League trophies.

You really can see the similarities between Hazard and Palmer with the way both players like to make use of their close dribbling ability to take players on, and then have the quality to find the back of the net from pretty much any distance.

Afterall, Eden Hazard is a fan of Palmer and thinks he can go far for the Blues.
