'Not the most important thing': £45m Chelsea player's former teammate warns him his talent alone isn't enough
Chelsea’s squad is one that possesses a lot of talent, especially in attack following the summer transfer window.
Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto all joined Chelsea to make the team’s attack even stronger.
The first of that trio already looks like a really good addition after registering two assists in his first two games. Sancho, Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke all started behind Nicolas Jackson in Chelsea’s 3-0 win against West Ham United over the weekend, and that Chelsea attack has left Joe Cole in awe.
Regarding Felix, though, one of his former teammates has a bit of a warning for him.

Yannick Carrasco discusses Joao Felix’s struggles at Atletico Madrid
Felix did not have the best time at Atletico Madrid. As a result, he spent two seasons out on loan at Chelsea and Barcelona before signing for the former permanently in a £45m deal.
One of the 24-year-old’s former teammates at Atletico, Yannick Carrasco, has now been speaking about his struggles in Madrid and has warned him that talent can only get you so far in football.
“Everyone knows in the world of football that he is a player with a lot of talent, he was born with a lot of talent, but you can see that in football sometimes talent is not the most important thing,” Carrasco told Mais Football.
“It is also discipline, being focused, working, and Atleti is not an easy team because there you ask for a lot of effort and not just playing with talent. And it may be that with the coach it was a bit difficult, but as you can see that he is a player with a lot of talent, he has always found top teams like Barca, Chelsea, Atleti.”
Underwhelmed with his first spell at Stamford Bridge, John Obi Mikel wants to see more from Felix this time around.
Talent alone will definitely not be enough for Joao Felix at Chelsea
Again, this is not a Chelsea squad lacking technical skill. With the likes of Palmer, Sancho and Madueke, Felix will not be able to live off that.
He is going to have to work extremely hard off the ball and combine well with this teammates to convince Enzo Maresca.
If the Portuguese cannot do that, then he is not going to start too many games in the Premier League this season.
Going up against Palmer for a spot in Maresca’s first XI, Felix already faces a challenge getting regular minutes in west London. Maresca has confirmed that Palmer and Felix are his two No.10s for the campaign.
