'I can guarantee': Chelsea are absolutely in love with 'complete' player who hasn’t played this season - Romano
Several players are yet to feature in the Premier League for Chelsea this season.
That list includes Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei. While those last three names have at least got some minutes in other competitions, James has not played at all.
The right-back has been injured since the start of the season, meaning that he has not featured in a competitive game under Enzo Maresca yet.
Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino is now concerned about James’ fitness. The 24-year-old also struggled to stay fit last term, managing to make just 10 appearances in the Premier League.

Chelsea still in love with Reece James
Despite his injuries and unavailability, Chelsea still seem to really appreciate James. In fact, Fabrizio Romano says the club “love” him.
Speaking about the England international on his YouTube channel, he said: “I can guarantee that the current management is still rating Reece James highly as a player, of course, as a right-back, as a leader in the dressing room.
“They remain very, very happy with Reece James. They love Reece James, so this is the internal feeling at Chelsea.”
Manchester City star Kyle Walker is also a fan of his Three Lions teammate. Back in May, Walker suggested that James was the “complete” right-back.
It is high praise, given what Walker has accomplished in his career playing in that position.
Chelsea’s love for Reece James understandable
It is easy to see why figures at Chelsea adore James so much. When the club captain is fit and playing, he is easily one of the best full-backs in England.
James is a full-back who can defend and attack. He may have only played 10 games in the Premier League last season, but his impact was felt in most of those matches.
For example, in Chelsea’s 3-2 win away at Nottingham Forest towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign, James, who came on as a substitute that day, provided one assist, won one aerial duel and made one tackle (via WhoScored). It was not bad for a cameo.
Chelsea fans will be hoping that they get to see more of that this season, but they are going to have to wait it seems.
