'Best player on the pitch': Jody Morris blown away by Chelsea player who had 60 touches vs Man United
Chelsea came from behind to rescue a draw during the weekend’s trip to Manchester United in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea manager, watched his side earn a point at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. They had to come from behind to do so, too.
Bruno Fernandes put the hosts in front in the 70th minute with his spot-kick. However, Moises Caicedo scored his first goal of the season to equalise with a stunning volley from outside the box.
Caicedo now has two goals since his arrival at Stamford Bridge last summer, with both of them being out of the top drawer. The 23-year-old midfielder star scored from the halfway line against Bournemouth on the final day of last season.
Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League table after the weekend’s results, while next weekend’s opponents Arsenal are below them in fifth.

Jody Morris amazed by Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo at Old Trafford
Jody Morris singled out Chelsea’s Caicedo as the “best player on the pitch” during Sunday’s league showdown in Manchester.
On top of his stunning goal, Caicedo delivered an all-action performance in the centre of the park.
Caicedo recently said he enjoys playing with Cole Palmer at Chelsea. Well, it’s actually his growing partnership alongside Romeo Lavia in the midfield that is really grabbing the eye.
Gary Cahill’s prediction that Caicedo would come good at Chelsea is 100 per cent coming true in 2024.
Moises Caicedo stats vs Manchester United
Caicedo put in the sort of dominant display at Man United that’s become the norm for him this season. His goal was just the icing on the cake during an impressive contribution.
Fotmob data has provided the individual statistics from Caicedo’s performance on Sunday:
- Match rating – 8.3
- Minutes played – 90
- Goals – 1
- Total shots – 1
- xG – 0.04
- Successful dribbles – 2/3 (67%)
- Touches – 60
- Accurate passes – 36/43 (84%)
- Chances created – 1
- Tackles won – 2/3 (67%)
- Interceptions – 1
- Clearances – 2
- Dribbled past – 3
It’s going to be hard for any defensive midfielder in the world to justify a mammoth £115m price tag, but the biggest compliment you could pay Caicedo is that all the noise around his transfer fee has quieted right down recently.
As it stands, his combination next to Lavia is giving the Blues a fantastic platform in the midfield. It means Enzo Fernandez has a mammoth task on his hands to break back into the best starting line-up.
Interestingly, Chelsea fans argued Caicedo is playing like a captain after his stellar display at Old Trafford.
