'Imagine when he turns up': TalkSPORT pundit suggests Chelsea will be even better when £54m player finds form

There’s been a lot to like about Chelsea in the opening few months of the season, but there’s still several individuals that are yet to find their peak form.

In general, Chelsea should be pleased with the 2024/25 campaign so far. Enzo Maresca’s side went into this weekend sitting fourth in the Premier League table ahead of Sunday’s match at home to Arsenal.

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe recently praised Maresca for the immediate impact he’s had at Chelsea because he only took charge as the Blues head coach in the summer.

Carlton Cole claims Pedro Neto hasn’t turned up for Chelsea yet

TalkSPORT pundit Carlton Cole suggests Chelsea could still improve once Pedro Neto finds his form.

“Neto, he hasn’t even got going yet, imagine when he turns up. There’s a lot of excitement around the Bridge at the moment,” Cole told talkSPORT.

In fairness, Neto admitted this week he’s only just starting to feel great after a slow start at Chelsea. He joined the Blues in a £54m deal (Sky Sports) from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, but he’s coming off the back of plenty of injury problems.

The 24-year-old winger is definitely beginning to settle now, and he’s started the last two consecutive Premier League games.

Finally, Neto is showing in the last few games that he can inject pace, directness and an extra threat on the wing for Chelsea. The left-footer attacker is capable of playing either flank, too.

Here is a look at how the Portuguese star has performed so far for the Blues:

Competition Appearances (Starts) Goals Assists
Premier League 10 (4) 0 2
Conference League 2 (2) 1 1
Conference League qualifiers 1 (1) 0 0
Carabao Cup 1 (1) 1 0

Frank Lampard hopes to see more from “exciting” Chelsea forward Neto, which should happen if he keeps himself fit and starts more games.

The competition for places in the wide areas at Stamford Bridge means none of the wingers can afford to take their foot off the gas. Neto is competing alongside teammates such as Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Jadon Sancho for one of two starting roles.
