'My biggest quality': Romeo Lavia shares what his best attribute is ahead of Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia will be hoping to show off some of his skills when his side play this afternoon.

Chelsea take on Arsenal in a huge London derby, with the Blues having the chance to move back into fourth.

Romeo Lavia will be expected to start after ousting Enzo Fernandez out of the team. The 20-year-old has now started in Chelsea’s last three Premier League games.

Having been out injured for so long, Lavia says he’s not playing at his best yet.

Romeo Lavia discusses what he brings to the table

Lavia has been speaking about his biggest strength. For the Belgian, that is controlling games.

Talking to Chelsea’s official website, he said: “My biggest quality is probably the one that keeps things ticking.

“I like to have everything go through me, and then try to help my teammates to be in better positions with their quality, for example offensively. Defensively we try not to concede, and I try to make their job easier.”

Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney thinks Lavia is actually quite underrated.

Romeo Lavia’s pass success rate

Lavia’s passing has been very accurate this season. According to WhoScored, the Belgium international has a pass success rate of 92.1%, which is the third highest in Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Lavia has also been quite good at winning the ball back for his side. At present, he is making two tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game.

Rank Player Interceptions per game
1. Moises Caicedo 1.7
2. Levi Colwill 1.4
3. Romeo Lavia 1.4
4. Wesley Fofana 1.3
5. Malo Gusto 1.1

All in all, Chelsea will be glad to have the former Southampton man available again. It is clear to see that he is a quality midfielder, while they also invested a lot of money in him.

His return, though, has left Maresca with quite a bit of a dilemma. The Italian now has a £100m midfielder on the bench.

While Fernandez is not making any complaints right now, he is not going to settle for being a substitute forever.

Fernandez did start in Chelsea’s 8-0 win against Noah in the Conference League during the week, but that is definitely not what the World Cup winner was bought for.

He was signed to help Chelsea win games like the one versus Arsenal later, yet he may not even start in it.
