'There will be goals': Jason Cundy predicts Manchester United vs Chelsea score

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has been speaking ahead of his old side’s clash against Manchester United later today.

Chelsea travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, who have just named Ruben Amorim as their next permanent manager.

However, Amorim does not officially take charge until November 11, meaning that Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in the dugout until then.

Van Nistelrooy knows Noni Madueke well after managing the winger at PSV Eindhoven and is one Chelsea attacker his team will have to watch out for this afternoon.

Jason Cundy predicts Chelsea win

Neither Chelsea nor United’s defence have convinced Cundy this season, so the pundit is expecting there to be goals at Old Trafford.

In terms of a winner, unsurprisingly, Cundy has gone for his former club. Speaking on talkSPORT (02/11/2024 at 19:53), he said: “I think there will be goals in this. Both sides are defensively leaking.

“Even in midweek when they beat Leicester, they still conceded two, so I am going to go for Man United 2-3 Chelsea.”

Right now, Cundy doesn’t think there’s room for Christopher Nkunku in Enzo Maresca‘s team. The forward has had to play back-up to Nicolas Jackson in the current campaign.

Can Chelsea beat Manchester United?

Chelsea are obviously the more in-form side, with United currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table. The Blues, on the other hand, are in sixth.

However, United could easily have that new manager bounce, already beating Leicester City 5-2 midweek, while Chelsea have not won at Old Trafford since 2013.

Going into the game, some may be expecting Maresca’s men to come out as victors, but it really would not be a shock to see this one end 1-1.

With Chelsea having the opportunity to move to third, it would be a disappointing result, especially considering how United have played this season.

But with Van Nistelrooy in charge, it could be a completely different United team that turns up later.

After the United game, Chelsea have another tough match. Next Sunday, they take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
