Chelsea are considering asking Premier League side about signing £70m player in January - journalist
Chelsea will be going into the January transfer window knowing that the right signings could help them achieve something special this season.
The Blues are currently just two points off the top of the table in the Premier League, and could even temporarily go top with a win over Everton at the weekend.
Enzo Maresca still doesn’t believe Chelsea are in a title race, however the results they continue to get is making that hill much harder to die on.
Some would say that while they are the top scorers in the Premier League so far this season, it may be the defence that lets them down in their quest to win the league outright.

Chelsea considering Marc Guehi in January
A number of potential defensive reinforcements have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, including one who knows the club very well.
Marc Guehi has come on leaps and bounds since leaving the club to become one of the better centre-backs in the Premier League as of late.
Now, Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea are big fans of the defender, and could make a move to sign him as early as January.
He said on his Substack: “SPTC sources are now hearing that Chelsea ‘might’ ask for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in January.
“So in a nutshell, they are seriously considering making an approach to bring the former Blues defender back to the club, and that could even come next month.
“Chelsea have been eyeing Guehi again for some time, and they are aware of other interest coming in for him. We have matching rights on any other offer that comes in for Guehi, so that is why they might try and get ahead of the competition in January, or they might be forced to sign him sooner than the summer if other clubs do come in.”
Guehi could cost Chelsea £70m
Even if Chelsea have matching rights with any other club to sign Guehi, Palace are not likely to be easy to negotiate with.
It has previously been claimed that a price of around £70m will be what is required to prize him away from Selhurst Park.
The Blues will be more than aware of the magnitude of trying to agree a deal with Palace when they attempted to sign Michael Olise before, with him eventually making the move to Bayern Munich.
