Chelsea fans decide whether they want Frank Lampard to replace Enzo Maresca as club legend guides Coventry to another victory

Right now, Frank Lampard and Coventry City are flying, while Chelsea are really struggling.

Coventry City just beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, making it six wins in their last seven Championship games under Frank Lampard.

Their form is in stark contrast to Chelsea‘s, with Enzo Maresca‘s side winning just two of their last seven Premier League fixtures.

Chelsea fans want Frank Lampard return

Lampard is doing well at Coventry, but the Sky Blues are obviously playing in a division below the Premier League, while their manager’s last spell at Chelsea did not go well.

Most of the damage was already done by the time he got there, but Chelsea still finished 12th under Lampard. In total, the Blues managed to win just one game following his return.

Nevertheless, some Chelsea fans are now calling for Lampard to be brought back to the club following Coventry’s latest win, clearly sick of what they have seen from Maresca.

One Chelsea supporter sent a clear message to the board on social media, saying: “Sack Enzo Maresca & bring back Super Frank Lampard.”

Another Chelsea fan is definitely not against the idea of a Lampard return, posting: “Please hear me out…”

One user on X said: “Maresca out, Frank in.” They are clearly not Maresca’s biggest fan!

And one other Chelsea supporter said: “He will join Chelsea and everything will begin to look different.”

Coventry have also beaten QPR under Lampard, one of Chelsea’s west London rivals.

Should Chelsea sack Enzo Maresca?

Chelsea’s owners and sporting directors have to take a lot of responsibility for the team’s recent failures.

The club decided not to sign a striker during the January transfer window and Nicolas Jackson is now injured.

In general, Chelsea’s squad lacks balance. It is weak in key areas like the centre-forward and goalkeeper positions, while there is not enough experience in it.

But Chelsea, on paper, still have enough quality to be above the likes of Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth. If the Blues finish below them and outside the Champions League places, then Maresca deserves to be sacked. But so should Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, who have built this imbalanced squad.
