Report: 'Quality' Chelsea loanee may have played his last game for the club with permanent move not ruled out
Joao Felix secured a late move from Chelsea to AC Milan in the January transfer window.
It has not taken long for Joao Felix to make an impact at AC Milan either, with the forward scoring on his debut on Wednesday.
Felix was a second-half substitute for Milan in their 3-1 win against AS Roma in the quarter-finals of the Copa Italia. He came on to replace Christian Pulisic and managed to net in the 72nd minute with a nice little lob.
The 25-year-old also managed to score on his second Chelsea debut but was never able to build on that after failing to win a spot in Enzo Maresca‘s team. It is why Felix joined Milan in a £5m-plus loan deal.

Joao Felix may have played his last game for Chelsea
Felix only signed for Chelsea last summer and there is no option to buy in his current loan deal. Nevertheless, Chelsea supporters may never get to see Felix in a blue shirt ever again.
According to TEAMtalk, there is a “realistic chance” that Felix has played his last game for Chelsea.
While Milan only signed the Portuguese on a dry loan, the same outlet suggests the Blues could still sell him to the Italian giants or another club this summer.
Felix was hoping for opportunities at Chelsea following his return to the club, but he did not get many under Maresca this term.
Things were a lot different during his first spell at Stamford Bridge. In the second half of the 2022/23 season, Felix made 14 starts in all competitions. Graham Potter hailed him as a “quality player” in one press conference, which was shared by Chelsea’s official website.

Joao Felix should seek permanent Chelsea exit
In the few games that Felix was able to start in the Premier League this season, he played on the left.
However, his best position is centrally, behind the striker. Going forward, that is where Felix will want to play, but that is just not going to happen at Chelsea.
The current campaign has been proof, with Maresca having refused to start him there in Premier League games. Of course, with Cole Palmer also preferring to play in the No.10 role, the Chelsea manager‘s hands are kind of tied.
Whatever the case, Felix is just not going to get regular game time in his favoured position at Chelsea, making a permanent exit this summer logical.
