Chelsea were snubbed by £47m Premier League ace in 2023, he could now be sold to Saudi Arabian club
The summer of 2023 was a very busy one for Chelsea, who made a whole bunch of signings for their first team.
Chelsea broke the British transfer record — which they had previously set after buying Enzo Fernandez — by bringing in Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion.
They also signed Robert Sanchez from their Premier League rivals, though that particular bit of business has not really worked out. Sanchez has made a lot of errors this season, resulting in him being dropped at one stage.
However, before Chelsea signed the Spaniard, they tried to recruit another goalkeeper.

Agent claimed Chelsea were interested in Manchester United’s Andre Onana
Former Blue Frank Leboeuf wanted Chelsea to sign Andre Onana before his £47m move from Inter Milan to Manchester United, and it looks like the club were keen to but were ultimately rejected by the player.
When Onana’s agent spoke about his transfer to United in 2023, he said: “Towards April, many inquired about the player. Tottenham have asked for information; Chelsea have had a very strong interest.
“There were meetings in London and Chelsea also met with Inter, but [Erik] ten Hag was key. We are looking forward to facing great managers like [Pep] Guardiola and trying to win titles with Manchester United. We have a great desire to rock.”
While Sanchez has not been great between the sticks, Chelsea will not be too disappointed about missing out on Onana.
The Cameroon international has not really convinced at Old Trafford either, and it now looks like he could be off in the summer.

Manchester United could offload Andre Onana to Saudi Arabia
Onana has only been at United for a couple of seasons and is still 28 but could already be in line for a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils are prepared to sell their shot-stopper to a Saudi Pro League club in the next transfer window. It shows just how unconvincing he has been since arriving from Inter.
As for Chelsea, they could also offload a goalkeeper or two, with the Blues possessing too many.
Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Mike Penders are all currently on their books. The Chelsea Chronicle has also been told that the arrival of a new No.1 cannot be ruled out. In that scenario, someone will definitely have to be sold.
Sanchez has not been a success at Stamford Bridge, but there has been nothing to suggest that Onana would have had he joined Chelsea instead in 2023.
