Nicolas Jackson says he's so happy after Enzo Maresca's massive claim about the Chelsea striker

Enzo Maresca still seems to have at least one huge supporter at Chelsea in Nicolas Jackson.

After some very unconvincing performances of late, some Chelsea fans are starting to lose patience with Maresca.

Chelsea supporters were unhappy with Maresca following the 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town last Sunday, for example.

Jackson, though, is going to continue to fight for the 45-year-old and is delighted with his recent comments about him.

Nicolas Jackson reacts to Enzo Maresca’s ‘perfect No.9’ claim

Jackson is going through a rough patch right now, not scoring a goal for Chelsea since December.

Nevertheless, Maresca still described Jackson as the “perfect No.9” when talking to TNT Sports and others about the Senegal international last week.

It has made Jackson happy and even more determined to fight for Maresca in these remaining games of the season.

“I saw that,” Jackson was quoted as saying by Chelsea’s official website when discussing Maresca’s recent comments. “I just do my work and if the coach says what he thinks, I just work and the team help me, fighting for the team. I hope he is playing me and believing in me. I’m very happy with that.

“I know what I can do and what I cannot do. He will say I know what I can do in the pitch. I am happy, and that makes me want to fight for him and try to make him be where he wants to be, and where the club wants to be.”

Despite his lack of goals of late, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has also praised Jackson, impressed with the amount of energy that he brings to the pitch.

Next season, though, Chelsea fans will want to see consistency in front of goal from the 23-year-old and not just energy.

Jackson has scored just nine goals in the Premier League this term, leaving him some distance away from the likes of Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak in the goalscoring charts.

Nicolas Jackson on Chelsea’s Champions League chances

With Jackson and Cole Palmer not scoring at the minute, you really would not back Chelsea to finish inside the top five this season.

Ahead of their trip to Craven Cottage to take on west London rivals Fulham, Maresca’s men find themselves seventh in the Premier League table.

Jackson, though, is adamant that his side can still qualify for the Champions League.

On their chances, the former Villarreal man said: “We believe because we have been there all season. We are still there and to be top four I’m sure if we win all the games we will be there. We need to focus on ourselves, believe in the coach and fight for the team.”

Jackson and Co, however, have some tricky fixtures remaining, still needing to face Liverpool, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.
